Buster Keel - Ch 39 (English)

Buster
Keel! Chapter 39!!!!!!!!!!! Damn this one is excitiiiiing (mostly because Kurokiri and Blue are my fave and this is their chapter), and it's also the last chapter of volume 10, third volume since I started picking this up!! Feels pretty wild to have come this far.

This chapter was also one of the hardest to clean, lots of nice patterned and busy backgrounds... with text directly on top of them... ugh. I think I did pretty good given the circumstances, but if things look blocky well... what can I say, the clone tool isn't magical and my patience isn't infinite.

But whatever! Pls disregard my cleaning grievances and read this chapter!! Buster Keel! Chapter 39, typeset in English!!!

Buster Keel Chapter 38 (English)

Chapter 38, up! Damn I have too much free time, but it's awesome. I can transcribe (copying the japanese text out so I can toss it into a translator) a chapter in a day now, as I did with Ch 39 that's coming up next. Translating is usually the longest step, but after that, if I'm feeling a bit lazy on quality, editing & typesetting can take just a few days.

On top of that, after getting even more lazy about capturing the raws, I wrote a new python script to take screenshots at the press of a key, with full renaming and cropping immediately on capture. So now that step's even more streamlined, with the previous two scripts combined into one :D

In 38, we get more fun fun fun stuff, which was actually a bit of a pain to translate - just how much subtext am I supposed to be capturing here with my noob Japanese skills.... at least I did some research and found some more fonts to use, so hopefully it's starting to look a little better on that front.

All right, enough about that, hope you enjoy Buster Keel! Chapter 38, typeset in English.

Title Pages

Now that the end is sort of in sight for Buster Keel and I'm getting a bit bored, I've been thinking about what I'll do after I finish scanlating BK. Given how enjoyable this project is, I'm definitely going to pick up another title and keep up the scanlating work! I have some ideas already of what that'll be, probably be another dropped fantasy shounen.

Towards that end, I've just moved all the Buster Keel chapters to it's own page here - check it out in the nav bar. I spent about two hours trying to figure out how to put in a dropdown so it would show up under "Translating Stuff", but I wasn't able to create anything satisfactory, so it's just going to hang out there with the rest for now. Once another title's page needs to be made, I'll probably be annoyed enough to find something that works lol.

Buster Keel Chapter 37 (English)

Chapter 37 of Buster Keel! is done! Things really kick off in this one, and we get an exciting first look at the various plots that have been brewing on all sides regarding the Feast of the Gods.

The next chap (and the ones going forward) are probably going to take a lot longer because I'm caught up with my translations backlog, which means Ch 38 will have to go through the whole process (transcribing-translating-raw acquisition-editing/typesetting) from step one. The past few were easy and quick because it was just the last two steps that needed to be done.

I'm also planning to try and learn to do better typesetting... using more than three fonts would probably make these easier on the eyes haha. Look forward to that, if it ever happens lol.

And thanks to the anons who are leaving comments! I really appreciate you taking the time to submit them and let me know what you think. Serotonin and motivation boost double whammy.

Hope you enjoy Buster Keel! Chapter 37, typeset in English.

Buster Keel Chapter 36 (English)

It's Buster Keel! Chapter 36!!

Holy crap I ground this out quickly. Not as fast as chapter 32 (took 7 days), but still fast enough to make me continue questioning what I'm doing with my life (11 days). I guess editing is just really fun? It feels nice to be doing something I enjoy.

Anyway, Feast of the Gods, start! We're finally on the arc titled with the villains' evil plot, where things start getting intense as the clash with all four Shikyou begins. This is also the first chapter of Volume 10, the third volume since I've been translating! It's exciting to see how far I've come.

On Duolingo (yes, I'm still doing that), I've finally been introduced to Japanese casual forms and grammar, and now everything is making so much more sense! Just about every line in this manga is written in casual form, so now I can sometimes guess the meaning of the text before it goes into Google Translate (yes, of course I'm still doing that). Hooray, progress!

Have at thee, Buster Keel! Chapter 36, typeset in English.
