I have been translating it too, without the knowledge of the existence of your translation.
So I decided to post on the comment section of my translated version what people wanted me to do, and they are asking for you to upload your translation on Mangadex! But only if you so desire, of course.
Hi there, thanks for reaching out! I want to firstly apologize for any inconvenience about this. I started working on Buster Keel at pretty much the same time you did last year, and decided I would keep on going to be able to read it at my own pace. I'm sorry if this is in any way interfering or discouraging you from your work, since I really enjoyed doing this myself and didn't want to take that away from you. If you want to keep going I would encourage you to do so! I'm otherwise ok with uploading to MD if you'd rather wash your hands of this. It's your call.
DeleteI think you should upload the translation, obviously you worked hard on this translation, and it's not like I'm washing my hands off this, it's that I respect your hard work and translation (I know what it's like to translate something, especially with so many pages per release)

DeleteThe world of translations, cleaning, redrawing, quality checking, etc... everything is important. And I think it's very unappreciated, without being paid to pay for your bills or nobody even donating a single dollar to help, I'm in a shitty situation irl (could be worse but I wish no one the same fate), I only understood this when I started translating... but I actually liked doing it, but it's like, I don't like to trample on others? Idk. I'm a huge fan of this manga, true, but that should not be a reason your hard work is ignored, so I'm actually looking forward to reading your translation!
Really sorry to hear you're in this situation :/ things can just be total crap and the times aren't making things any better. Scanlating is definitely a one-way street in terms of value and is really just sustained by the passion fans like you have for the work, which can be pretty depressing. Please know I made a conscious decision to lay low with this scanlating and have already been pleasantly surprised by the amount of attention it got up until now, no trampling involved. I'll try to take your blessing to upload to a bigger site and give more folks the chance to read Buster Keel :) Hope things look up for you soon.
Deletei hope when you upload it to mangadex (hopefully soon) people will see that buster keel is fully translated and hopefully it wont stay as underrated and get some attention.

ReplyDeleteThanks Alexanpt, it's mostly work on my end getting my files in order (and finding the time to do it). Could you give me any advice on how to name/number the pages? Not really sure how MD processes the zips and I want to make sure they come out in order.
DeleteI normally start with 000 < the cover of the chapter, 001 < translation credits and all that stuff, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006, 007, etc... they'll be in order!

I do feel that these two titles give off a similar vibe and I def love them both for the same reasons, so I couldn't help but want to read more.
