Artist Acro - Ch 56 (English)

 

Got this chapter done real quick! The on-the-fly translation is cutting the work like in half which is already awesome, but it also feels like my translations are more natural because I'm able to read them a bit and come up with a mental idea of what it should say in my head first. It sorta helps maintain the flow since I'm reading fast enough that the context of the previous text is also fresh. Very stoked that this seems to be working out!

And for things that are not working out, Blogger seems to have rolled back that improved image uploader DDD: I was so mad when I fired up the image insertion only to see I had to go back to filtering stuff myself, that I tried uploading all my XCF and PSD files if only to make the server have to reject them. Haha. More work for me in the end though.

Anyways, this' the last chapter of volume 6! Going to be doing the omake separately again, hopefully at another quick pace. I've been wishing I could build my buffer back up relative to my regular MD upload schedule but it's been really hard, and having to add the omake to this chapter isn't gonna help :'D

Artist Acro - Ch 55 (English)

 

Okay sweet, Chapter 55 done! There's only one more chapter left in this volume before the Omake, and boy do I feel like I went through this one nice and quick. Yes.

Couple of new things I just want to ramble about; looks like Blogger's finally updated their photo uploading interface, streamlining it a lot and most relevantly, actually filtering the files that show up in the file explorer to supported file formats (like .jpg and .png). Before they would also allow me to select and upload my GIMP files (which I keep in the same folder as the exports) and it was seriously so annoying to have to filter it myself. This is much more rational behaviour.

Second fun thing to mention is I may finally be ready to cut out yet another step in my scanlation process! This chapter was not transcribed before being translated, I read the text right off the raws in GIMP and wrote JP sentences I didn't understand into translators on the fly. Feels pretty great because not only do I cut out another major time-consuming step of transcribing all the text out, but it's also a testament to how much my Japanese has improved to the point that I understand most basic sentences without the help of a translator! The last time I cut out a step was a couple years back I think, when I stopped writing out the entire English translation before copying it into my GIMP file. After that I'd been writing the translation directly into GIMP after translating the transcription file, and now I may be able to skip the separate transcription entirely! This was just a trial run and it's possible this chapter was easier to read than some of the others, so who really know though lol.

Artist Acro - Ch 54 (English)

 

Awright, 54th chapter uploaded! Another fun one from Sakurai-sensei. I was actually pretty confident in my translations of the chapter titles for this volume, which sort of contributed to me starting to actually include the chapter titles on MD, but then I ended up having to retcon this one anyway. Ah well.

Artist Acro - Ch 53 (English)

 

Definitely spoke too soon about the challenging redraws in this series (from my last post). Still not as bad as BK, but sure got to exercise those muscles again for this one.

Also had a bit of a nostalgic struggle with phrasing some of the one-liners in this chapter, Japanese lends itself really well to short sweet phrases that don't always translate to English that well. I tried, though :}

Hope Artist Acro Chapter 53 is still enjoyable nonetheless!

Ch 52 done! Actually had something a little more challenging to redraw in this chapter. I reread BK recently and was having all sorts of war flashbacks over the ridiculous redraws I had to do for that series... AA is pretty lite on that front.

Phew I'm back! Didn't mean to drop my scanlating work for a month and a half, but I was away for a week and got really sick afterwards so this was pretty back-of-mind for a good chunk of February. This chapter is def an important one though hehe. 

Changing my Blogger handle was super easy so I went ahead and did that last month, also, so I'll be signing off on everything with the new one (chesterfield) now. It's still little ol' me doing all the work and rambling and uploading here though :)

All right, 3rd update of the month! Just managing to squeeze in this last post on the last day. Had a lot of fun translating this one :DD

In unrelated news, I'm considering changing my nickname here to "chesterfield" to match the handle I use in other places like mangadex; I don't use "Khi" anywhere but here and it feels a loose end. I'll have to see if I can change my user handle here on Blogger first though.
