Artist Acro - Ch 19 (English)

 

19th story of Artist Acro! Had some time this week to actually sit down and get it done. Things are getting interesting~ I hope we get to see a new character soon!

Also since I have some more time over the end of the year, I'm considering uploading Vol 2 of Artist Acro onto Mangadex. Feels like a shame to just leave the chapters in this little backhole I've dug into the internet, and I have hope other people who don't know it already will enjoy this series too. There was enough of Buster Keel already released when I picked it up for folks to go searching for it of their own volition (which is what I had been anticipating) so I figure it's different with AA.

Anyway, that is to say I'll probs just dump Vol 2 onto MD sometime in the near future. But for now, hope y'enjoy Artist Acro Chapter 19, typeset in English!!

Artist Acro - Ch 18 (English)

 

Chappie 18! This one went a bit smoother thanks to less stuff happening and less pages in general (back to the short 18-pagers). It also helps that my Japanese is starting to actually get to the level where I can sorta tell what each sentence is getting at? @__@ There's still plenty of holes in my understanding at first, but I'm psyched by how much it's been helping keep the suspense and organic feeling of experiencing the manga at first exposure without all the translator-inbetween-ness and garbled junk it tends to spit out. In particular with the impacts in this chap. Oof.

This chapter also has a pretty neat play on words that I tried to work in, in the form of awkward English. I wrote a few notes to explain what's happening, but I thought it was really clever and I'm sure the genius is totally lost in translation :( never really encountered this kind of word play before in my short scanlating career so I'm not really sure whether to take it as a sign of improvement in personal proficiency or just my first time seeing it. Probs both? Hopefully? :)

Artist Acro - Ch 17 (English)

 

Hey-ho, made it back with the first chapter of Artist Acro Vol 3, Chapter 17!! It's been a while huh. Scanlating steam is a bit lower in pressure atm so this'll probably be the norm going forward, not really wanting any of that pressure in the first place lol. The first chapter in a volume is always an extra pain because of all the introductory content anyway, so I tend to drag my feet with these ones eheh. 

Forget about my problems though, this chapter is... oof. Let's just say I had some trouble capturing and conveying what the original text was going for, possibly because I was also addled by what was going on? Read it and find out for yourself!!

Artist Acro - Vol. 2 Omake

The omake (bonus) content for Artist Acro volume 2 have been finished and uploaded! There was quite a bit of content, and I even ended up whipping up a translator's note at the end (weird to be doing this for the bonus content). Pretty glad to see the end of this volume though, between all these small condensed chaps it's been surprisingly tiring. Looking forward to vol 3!

Anyway, check this omake out! I thought it was pretty funny and interesting stuff, Sakurai-sensei has a good sense of humour :P

Artist Acro - Ch 16 (English)

 

Managed to wrap Chapter 16 up quickly! That's the last chap of Vol 2, but there're a bunch of Omake (bonus) pages that I'll be editing separately since they're like, a 1/3 of a chapter in pages on their own. Pretty hyped to have made it through a whole vol of AA~ still plenty to go though :)

Artist Acro - Ch 15 (English)

Chapter 15 of Artist Acro is donnnnee~ got really bored and so forced myself to edit AA lol. I thought I was losing some interest in this, but this chapter was surprisingly intriguing and I zipped through it pretty quickly. So here it is! More build-up and sad times :') but hopefully we get things resolved sometime soon. 

Speaking of soon, this is the second-last chapter in Volume 2! The chapters are real short so this' felt like a bit of a long-haul compared to Buster Keel, which had 4 chaps/volume. I'll be looking forward to the next one coming up shortly~ 

On a random side-note, I spent like an hour updating my screengrab script further to accommodate multi-chapter capturing. With AA chapters being so short, it's making it worthwhile to just grab a whole bunch of chapter raws at once instead of firing up the script for each chapter, so with a bunch of functions and folder management I'll be able to grab like, the whole of volume 3 in one go if I wanted to. But I probs won't, 'cause it's spoilery :)

Artist Acro - Ch 14 (English)

Chapter 14, made it!! Check out that excessively cool cover page - why was this necessary lol. It also made for a really difficult time cleaning and typesetting it... ugh. Basically every chapter cover page in this series is just text directly on the art, making for an uneven distribution of effort onto the first pages.

The scanlating drive is starting to cool down a bit, so I may not be able to muster the motivation to make weekly updates - but no plans whatsoever to drop it. Just need to go with the ebb and flow of my fickle attentions.

Artist Acro - Ch 13 (English)

 

Chap 13 of Artist Acro up~ missed my weekend upload target due to health problems OTL but these tiny little chapters made it easy to catch up yesterday. Ever wanted to know how a spiky-headed kid with supernatural powers can outsmart a group of creepy buff dudes also with supernatural powers who are out to get his corpse?? Read on to find out!

Also thought it was worth noting that I've partially given up on these bizarre and pervasive SFX, and will revert to only adding SFX notes for the ones I can make a decent stab at getting correct. Just substitute in your own imaginary sounds when you see those Japanese scribbles :)

Buster Keel now uploaded

As of today I have uploaded my chapters of Buster Keel to Mangadex, finishing it off there! I picked up where Alexanpt left off after they graciously suggested I upload my work. Given that I didn't know a lick of Japanese just over a year ago and now I've completed Buster Keel on a high-profile site, it certainly does feel surreal. The comments and expanded viewership are really nice to see too ^_^ 

Though I've hurled myself over the mental hurdle of uploading to Mangadex, I will not be uploading future work there by default since it's proven to be kind of a pain. I would be open to (batch) uploading to other sites on request though, if there happens to be any interest in these overlooked titles.

With that done, time to delve headfirst back into the usual binge-scanlating business~

Artist Acro - Ch 12 (English)

 

Chapter 12 is done! Made a typo on the last post saying that one was ch 12, but this one is the actual one. Whoops, no harm done though. Another short one this time, clocking in at 18 pages, in which we find out more about the latest baddie on Acro's tail. I also changed the chapter title from what I put in the table of contents 'cause I really screwed that one up (or rather, Google Translate did).
