Artist Acro - Ch 81 [END] (English)

All right! Here it is! Done! Fini! η΅‚δΊ†γ—γŸ!

This last chap took me almost the whole month because of the usual end-of-volume Omake shenanigans, plus the mini one-shot thingy at the very end (which is not much extra content tbh, the omake strips are much better in terms of relevance). Also, I've been extremely pooped this June due to various things going on and didn't have as much time to scanlate as I liked.

But it's fine! All's good! I made it! According to my archive, I released my first chapter of Artist Acro (chapter 7) in early September, so it only took me less than 4 years to scanlate all remaining eight volumes (about 75 chapters). Only

But considering how I'm an amateur hobbyist one-man show, and I got down to a point where I was scanlating like 1 chapter a month at most before bouncing back, I still think it's pretty impressive. And I got the main thing I wanted out of this - closure. A chance to read this delightful series to it's end. I'm personally very satisfied with just about everything - from the actual characters to the plot and the final ending. I remember seeing a comment on this series somewhere that complained about the ending being bad, so I was bracing myself for something Buster Keel-esque rushed, but it really wasn't! I'm glad it got what it got done - and I hope the readers to come will enjoy it just as much as I did.

As for what's next, I still have no concrete plans - I never found a new series I wanted to pick up, nor have I found anyone to pick me up, but I've also been a bit too busy to take the initiative on either of those fronts myself, so who knows, once I wind up with nothing to do I'll figure something out quicker. The one thing I have been considering more seriously is to purchase and re-scanlate volume one of Artist Acro - it was already done by a different group years and years ago, but the quality is rather... lacking, so that's on the table for me right now. Otherwise, I expect I'll enjoy a bit of a break from furiously scanlating, and will look forward to whatever I get into next, whether it be here or elsewhere!

To anyone who's been following along since day one or just found any of this mess of a blog today, thanks for being here! I've had a great time with both this series and Buster Keel beforehand, and I hope my work will give others a chance to enjoy them both too 😊

I don't know how I wrote this much given how tired I am right now, but I think I'm done... so give Artist Acro Chapter 81 (END) a read, and you can say that you are, too ^^

 All the best! Have a great and safe rest of June~

Artist Acro - Ch 80 (English)

And here we are, at the penultimate chapter! This chap's title also got retconned, though I have yet to update the name in the table of contents from the first chap in this volume.

I'll be pulling the 81st and final chapter shortly. At long last! Man I'm going to be so verbose in the post for the last chap I can already feel it XD

Enjoy~~

Artist Acro - Ch 79 (English)

Awright, we're down to the final three! I retconned the title a bit again because I liked this one better. The chapter didn't really give any particular hints as to what it was supposed to be, but... it was kinda fitting I guess. :)

Enjoy!!!

Artist Acro - Ch 78 (English)

Chapter 78 has been uploaded!

Another great one with a great mix of action and story. Still having a hard time believing how good this manga is, given that I picked it up based on just the first volume, and how well it pushes all my buttons lol. Hope you also enjoy Artist Acro chapter 78, typeset in English!

Artist Acro - Ch 77 (English)

Here with Chapter 77! Gosh we're getting so close to the end, I'm so excited. We finally hear more about Crown's motivations and how everything unfolded, but there're still questions I'm waiting to get answered so... still hyped :D

This chapter's title was one of the more annoying ones to translate (they're generally all annoying, since they're very short non-sentences that don't give me any context to work off of) and I think something like "Acro, makes up his mind", but I'm too lazy to fix it. The current title isn't too far off anyway, as the chapter didn't really give enough clues to be sure I need to change it like in some other cases, so Imma just leave it like that this time.

Anyway, here ya go! Hope y'enjoy Artist Acro chapter 77, typeset in English!

Artist Acro - Ch 76 (English)

Chapter 76 done! Aghhhhh such a good chapter. I wanted to post sneak peeks because I was Feeling Things™️throughout the whole thing, but there was no way to do so and avoid spoilers, so... please just read it and it should be evident where I started having breakdowns XD

Also included a rare chapter note at the end of this one because I had to explain some translation hijinks. This guy is such a cool antagonist but I have to question his aesthetic sense lol.

Artist Acro - Ch 75 (English)

Chugging along at a good pace - here's chapter 75! Got this one out real quick, it helps that it was full of all the sorts of tropes that I'm here for. Thrilled that even this late in the game, the twists keep coming. I love this manga.

Check it out in Artist Acro Chapter 75, typeset in English!

Artist Acro - Ch 74 (English)

Awright, doing my best to rebuild a bit of a backlog (and also keep reading this manga!), so here's Chapter 74! Had to retcon the title a bit after going through it and figuring out what it might actually be trying to say. Another great chapter overall, with the kids turning the tables as usual hehe.

Hope y'enjoy Artist Acro chapter 74, typeset in English!

Up next...?

So I'm not sure if anyone is actually reading these posts at this point, but I figure it doesn't hurt to try posting about this here first.

Since the end of Artist Acro is coming up fast, I'm feeling around to see what I want to work on next. Really enjoying the scanlating hobby still, so I do want to continue in this space.

The two options I'm considering are (1) pick up a new series, or (2) join someone else's project as a cleaner/redrawer.

For both, I am looking for suggestions. I don't have a next series in mind like I did when I wrapped up BK and picked up AA, and I also have no idea how to go about finding groups to join in a manner that I'd feel comfortable with.

So, I'm asking you! Do you know of a dropped manga similar to BK/AA that you want to see finished? Do you want to pick up, or have picked up translating a title, but need a hand with CL/RD? Please let me know in the comments! :D

 ~~~
For some guidelines on what I'm looking for, see the following:
(1) New manga - I'd like to work on another shounen or shoujo manga that:
  • has a few chapters already scanlated in ENG so I can get a feel for the story/style and see if I'm interested
  • features some kind of fantasy/action/strategy element, similar to my other works Artist Acro and Buster Keel
  • was published a while back or is obscure enough for English licensing to be unlikely (I do not want to have to drop it if it gets licensed)
(2) Joining as a CL/RD - I've never worked with strangers on manga before, so I'm looking for a group that I can test the waters with. Ideally they could tolerate a casual commitment and/or have no scheduling requirements - I clean fast and enjoy doing it, but I don't work well under pressure. For this I'm sort of envisioning another solo scanlator looking to outsource CL/RD work, or maybe a more established group who wants to add another person to an existing team of cleaners.
  • I can do CL/RD for both coloured manhwa and B/W manga
  • I would be willing to clean SFX
  • I do not use Photoshop but I can handle .psd files
  • I will not work on titles with mature themes
If you or anyone you know of is looking for a cleaner/redrawer for their projects, please let me know in the comments, and/or have them reach out to me on Mangadex (username chesterfield).
All right, thanks for reading and hope you have a lovely day!
Artist Acro - Ch 73 (English)
And here we are! Volume 9! The finalest volume! The cover on MD that I stared at for hours being very confused...!
I've waxed poetic plenty enough on how I feel about getting to finish these series, so I'll refer you back to older posts if you missed my ramblings on that lol. Really looking forward to what this final volume has in store though, and this chapter is another exciting piece of the climax! So hope you enjoy Artist Acro Chapter 73, typeset in English!
Next chapter sneak peek: artist's renditions of what I look like when I get off work.
Artist Acro - Oneshot version & Vol 8 Omake (English)
Finally! I am done this oneshot!!! This'll be a long announcement post because I have a lot to ramble about, so bear with me (or don't, the chapter link is at the bottom lol).
A total of 51 pages including the omake stuff, I think this' the longest single release I've done since I started scanlating. Add on the fact that I was insanely busy with work and this is Artist Acro - which means a ton dialogue bubbles per page, and I'm honestly surprised I got this out in less than a month. It makes me think of Buster Keel, which had 40 pages per chapter, but being an action manga it had big dramatic action panels and lots of generic yelling for the text bubbles lol so those took seconds to translate & typeset. This oneshot was honestly 90% talking because they had to establish setting and character and stuff, which is understandable but was also hell to work on. If that wasn't enough, the style of writing itself was different from the main series, which added yet another layer of difficulty to the whole process T_T I did expect this oneshot to be different from the main series, but I didn't exactly foresee the problems it was gonna give me ^^;
Oh, and another thing that added onto the work was the fact that the pages in this oneshot were all quite poor quality - lots of fuzziness and jpeg artifacts and stuff, so I actually figured out the filtering stuff people do to clean that gunk up and applied it to every page. It made it look soooo much better - so crisp and clean, I can really see why scanlators do this lol. It was interesting to see how the omake pages (presumably drawn closer to the volume's actual release) were not as gunked up as the oneshot. But I still applied the filtering to those pages, and will probably do so going forward.
Anyways, with this, I'm done volume 8! Wahoooo!! One more volume to go, can you believe it. It's been a long journey to get to this point over these past three years and I'm really looking forward to closing up on another dropped title I was interested in finishing. Finishing not one but two titles is really going to establish this for me >:) Not sure yet what I'm going to do after Vol 9, but I'll probably post about that in the future when it gets closer.
In other news, my friend (alias Honey) who translates KR manhwa and has occasionally asked me to help clean some of her stuff, recently picked up a new manhwa (How to Gracefully Divorce a Dragon) and was interested in uploading the chaps to MD, so those have been uploaded under my (our) group over on Mangadex! I'm honestly just a bit hyped because I got to add her as a member and Hypothetical Scans doesn't feel like a fake group anymore lol. But the manhwa's great, it's a silly and fun romantic comedy that I'm enjoying a lot personally, and Honey's translations are top tier, so go check it out if that's your sort of thing ^_^
All right, I think I'm done...? Okay, here's the chapter page link to Artist Acro, Oneshot version & Vol 8 Omake, typeset in English!
 I'm so close to finishing the AA oneshot special but boy does it make me just want to run screaming into the woods
Why is it so LONG--
Artist Acro - Ch 72 (English)
I'mmmmmm back!! With chapter 72 of AA complete! Time to get a look into the background fight!
Next up will be the original Artist Acro oneshot, which I expect will take a while to edit since it's a whopping 48 pages. I may also include the vol 8 omake & end note with it since it's a short one this time. And then, we'll be on to the final volume, volume 9! I'm pretty hyped ^_^
 With that out of the way, hope you enjoy Artist Acro Chapter 72, typeset in English!
Notice~
I'm headed out for a few weeks and not sure what my internet service is gonna be like, so if it goes dead here for a while then that'd be why.
I've pulled the rest of Artist Acro volume 8 in any case, so at least I should be able to keep scanlating even while offline!
Have a great holiday season and a lovely new year ^_^
Artist Acro - Ch 71 (English)
The confrontation begins! I'm so hyped!
Artist Acro - Ch 70 (English)
Chapter 70! Managed to get this one done a bit quicker - it's another shorter one coming in at 16 pages. Things are heating up again which is real exciting to see! ^_^
Artist Acro - Ch 69 (English)
Okay Chapter 69 finally done! Kinda wild how it can take me anywhere between 4 days and 21 to finish a single chapter. I basically didn't touch this chap after pulling and cleaning the raws for a week, and then once I started editing it I (a) realized it was a whopping 26 pages, and (b) realized Vru talks a lot in it. Which is unfortunate because his speaking style is hell to translate. There's this one panel that I just stared at blankly for 20 minutes, no exaggeration, because I could not figure out what it was supposed to say.
Ended up making up something adjacent in meaning to whatever the JP in that panel's bubbles said (as I did for a lot of his lines, hopefully to a lesser extent), but I hope it doesn't detract too much from the overall reading. He's supposed to be a bit of an eccentric anyway, so I'm sure my fumbled translation fits in somewhat with his character at least :P
Anyway, as I mentioned this one's a doozy, both in length and contents (absolute emotional roller coaster for me) so hope you have fun cracking at it!
HELP chapter 69 is super long and difficult and making me cry again rahhhhh...
