Okay sweet, Chapter 55 done! There's only one more chapter left in this volume before the Omake, and boy do I feel like I went through this one nice and quick. Yes.
Couple of new things I just want to ramble about; looks like Blogger's finally updated their photo uploading interface, streamlining it a lot and most relevantly, actually filtering the files that show up in the file explorer to supported file formats (like .jpg and .png). Before they would also allow me to select and upload my GIMP files (which I keep in the same folder as the exports) and it was seriously so annoying to have to filter it myself. This is much more rational behaviour.
Second fun thing to mention is I may finally be ready to cut out yet another step in my scanlation process! This chapter was not transcribed before being translated, I read the text right off the raws in GIMP and wrote JP sentences I didn't understand into translators on the fly. Feels pretty great because not only do I cut out another major time-consuming step of transcribing all the text out, but it's also a testament to how much my Japanese has improved to the point that I understand most basic sentences without the help of a translator! The last time I cut out a step was a couple years back I think, when I stopped writing out the entire English translation before copying it into my GIMP file. After that I'd been writing the translation directly into GIMP after translating the transcription file, and now I may be able to skip the separate transcription entirely! This was just a trial run and it's possible this chapter was easier to read than some of the others, so who really know though lol.
